We believe the best work comes from close collaboration. Here is how we turn your vision into a finished piece you will have for life.
We begin with a conversation — learning about your space, your lifestyle, your tastes, and your goals. No pressure, no sales pitch. Just genuine listening from craftsmen who love what they do.
Together, we develop a plan that is both beautiful and functional — selecting wood species, door styles, finishes, hardware, and layout to reflect who you are and how you live.
We personally select the hardwood lumber for your project, grain matching doors and drawer fronts for a seamless, flowing aesthetic. The right material makes all the difference.
Every piece is built by hand in our Kettle Falls workshop using select hardwoods, maple plywood boxes, dovetailed drawers, and premium hardware. James and Russ personally oversee every stage.
Our premium catalyzed finishing process requires painstaking, patient handwork. Stain tints, glazes, distresses, and solid colors — each piece receives multiple coats and careful sanding between applications.
Before anything leaves our shop, every door, drawer, and cabinet is thoroughly inspected. Soft-close hardware is adjusted, finishes are reviewed, and dimensions are verified against your plans.
We handle the complete installation ourselves — so you can be confident the finished result perfectly matches the vision, down to the very last detail. We leave your home clean and completely finished.
Our relationship doesn't end at installation. We stand behind our work and are always available for adjustments, questions, or future additions to your home. Our work is built to last a lifetime.
When you commission Mingo Mountain, you work directly with James and Russ Fish. Not a salesperson. Not a project manager. The craftsmen who will personally build your cabinets are the same people who design them with you and install them in your home.
Mingo Mountain Woodworking is a father and son business. James Fish is the founder and master craftsman, with decades of fine woodworking experience behind every piece he builds. His son Russ now runs the company in close collaboration with his father, carrying the same exacting standards forward.
James Fish founded Mingo Mountain Woodworking after a career working across the full range of the building trades. Timber framing, general contracting, finish carpentry, trim work, and custom cabinetry. That breadth of experience shapes everything he builds.
It is this depth of knowledge that sets Mingo Mountain apart. James approaches every cabinet project the way a builder approaches a structure: with a thorough understanding of how spaces work, how materials behave, and how the finest details come together to make something truly built to last.
Russ Fish is the son of founder James Fish, and learned the trade working alongside his father in the Mingo Mountain shop. He has developed into a skilled craftsman and now leads the company as a second generation owner.
Russ brings fresh energy and a trained eye to every project, working in close collaboration with James to ensure that each kitchen, vanity, and built-in that leaves the shop meets the exacting standards that Mingo Mountain has always been known for.
